Bay Area Engagement Session | Lindsay + Rich

When I meet couples for the first time, I can tell pretty quickly that the ladies are much more at ease with the idea of the photo shoot and the gentelmen are a little more reserved but with Lindsay and Rich, I was pleasantly surprised that it was the other way around!

I could tell Rich was comfortable from the get go while Lindsay took a little while to warm up, but in all fairness, it was a pretty cold, cold day.

From chit chatting with them in between locations, I found out that Rich manages a Sports Basement in the South Bay.  If you are not familiar with the Sports Basement then you need to get to one of their many locations to get your sports gear.  They are my favorite store.  I am literally in the Sunnyvale store every other week.   Thank goodness for my passport discount!  And please, don’t bother ‘showrooming’ the products.  They have the best price around.  I do a reverse showrooming: would check online reviews of products and buy it at SB.

On top of that, they are fellow triathletes!  Well, to be honest, they are TRUE triathletes while I’m pretty much a newb in the sport.  They have completed SEVERAL full Ironman across the states and a few in Canada as well.  Pretty, freakin’ awesome.  I couldn’t help myself, so had asked for advices for my then, upcoming half-ironman triathlon in Morgan Hill.  I was thrilled to say the least.

Most of my clients are pretty tired from a 2 hours session with me but for these two, I don’t think their heart rate rose above 90!

Here are some pix from their session.  Enjoy!

Bay Area Maternity Session | Jacqueline + Demian

Yay!  With a busy last couple of weeks and first wedding of 2013 yesterday, I FINALLY finished Jaci and Demian’s maternity session photos!

I wish I could take credit for thinking of these amazing (and diverse) locations but it was all Jaci’s idea and planning.

I still get nervous when I work with a couple for the very first time and since maternity sessions haven’t been my main focus these past few years, I get doubly nervous.  But the more I do these sessions, the more I enjoy them, even more so than regular engagement sessions.

The reason why is because being a father of 2 boys, I can totally relate to a young couple that are starting their family (at least relate more than a couple just getting married).   Furthermore, I’ve enjoyed the process of capturing the beauty of a pregnant woman.  My wife Giao was even MORE beautiful (wouldn’t believe it was possible!) when she was pregnant with our 2 kids and in hindsight, I wish I had the skills to capture that beauty to its fullest.

That’s why, in my view, not only should I capture the happy couple expecting their first child (or Xth child), I have to also make sure that I capture that beautiful glow that all pregnant women possesses.

Giao and I met Jaci through a couple of clients of ours back in 2009 through the site projectwedding.com.  We always thought that Jaci and Demian made a great looking couple and hope that one day we could work with each other.  We couldn’t be more thrilled when they asked us to do their maternity photo session.

Here are some highlights from their shoot.  Enjoy!
